The BC SPCA has a 117 year history as the leading animal welfare organization in British Columbia. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals. Through our 40 locations throughout B.C. and provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services including province-wide cruelty investigation and the sheltering and re-homing of abandoned, unwanted, neglected and injured animals.
A new direction for community animal care, adoption and education, the BC SPCA Education & Adoption Centre in Richmond is a fast-paced environment perfect for an individual with passion for both animal welfare and community-building.
As Assistant Manager for the Richmond Education & Adoption Centre, you will play an integral role in instilling a culture of animal welfare and customer service of the highest standards. You will make a difference for both animals and members of the community by assisting with the development, delivery and management of the innovative education, adoption and retail services the Centre offers.
Responsibilities include assisting with volunteer management, community outreach, marketing, retail sales, fundraising, education development and the management of the welfare of adoptable animals at the Centre. As the ideal candidate, you will have:
- a post secondary education (or equivalent experience)
- A genuine compassion for animals and previous animal care training or equivalent experience
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent marketing and computer skills
- Motivation to set and meet goals
- The ability to motivate and inspire a core group of volunteers
- Previous volunteer management experience as asset
- Philosophical harmony with BC SPCA policies, programs and protocols
