Regional Director, Vancouver Island Region
Canadian Cancer Society, BC & Yukon Division
Over the past 75 years, the Canadian Cancer Society has led the fight for life by having the most impact, against more cancers, in more communities, than any other cancer charity in the country. Its mission is furthered through its focus on three priority areas: reducing the incidence of preventable cancers; supporting cancer patients and their families; and funding exemplary cancer research. The BC & Yukon Division is one of the largest and most progressive divisions within the national system. The division is headquartered in Vancouver and, with the support of 175 staff and over 17, 000 volunteers, serves communities across BC and the Yukon through 4 regional offices.
The Vancouver Island Region of the BC & Yukon Division is at an exciting time in its development, and is poised for growth; there is much potential to build the region’s volunteer base and raise the organization’s profile within the community. In order to act on these opportunities, the region is currently in need of a Regional Director to implement best practices towards engaging the community, building capacity and executing the regional operational plan.
Based in Victoria and reporting to the Vice President, Operations, you are the senior executive for the region, and have oversight for the region’s financial success as well as its progress towards achieving the Canadian Cancer Society’s mission. You will work across the region to engage and inspire staff and volunteers in communities, small and large. Backed by the support of the Divisional and National organizations, you are responsible for developing, managing and executing the regional operational plan by engaging the region’s staff, volunteers and key stakeholders to achieve its revenue development goals and build capacity.
As the ideal candidate, you bring experience from a management role within a complex, multi-dimensional environment in the public, private, or not-for-profit sector. You are a strong relationship builder with the capacity to forge meaningful ties with a range of stakeholders. A sense of excitement about engaging across the region will be critical to success in this role. A nuanced understanding of the not-for-profit sector is a strong asset.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic professional looking to lead a vibrant, growing organization to the next level and make a positive and meaningful impact in the lives of cancer patients and their families in British Columbia.
