The successful candidate will be responsible to:
Assist in the daily activities of Family Services during the Christmas Season under the direction of the Corps Officer
Assist with preparation of Christmas appeal and donation processing
Assist with kettle related duties including phone calls to volunteers, volunteer scheduling, organization of kettle supplies and kettle drop-offs at donation sites
Assist the Corps Officer in counting and recording the kettle donations
Provide administrative support, answer telephones and greet walk-in donors and clients
Sort toy donations and prepare toys for distribution
Record statistical data in a clear, organized and accurate manner
May assist with Christmas Hamper applications and Food Bank as needed
Perform other position related duties as required.
The successful candidate must have:
Completed Secondary School
Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community based programs
Strong oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal and organizational skills
Be self-motivated and disciplined
Experience/working knowledge in word processing and spread sheet use
A valid Ontario class “G” Driver’s license, and provide an original copy of a clean driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion is required
Be able to provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment
An understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada
NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
SALARY: $11.64 per hour, Temporary Seasonal Part Time Employment based on 12 hours per week
Normal hours of work: Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Start Date – As soon as possible and End Date: December 20th, 2013.
Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities and some flexibility in scheduling is required.
