Southern Interior Centre Director

 

InspireHealth, a Canadian leader in integrative cancer care is seeking a full time Clinical Director to join our Kelowna team.

Key Responsibilities

 

ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP (Reports to COO)

  • Manages the centre, including facilities and overseeing operation staff (scheduling, attendance etc.)
  • Ensures Administrative Staff time sheets are accurate and reflect work activity
  • Follows invoicing and purchasing procedures
  • Works with Financial Manager and COO to develop and manage the admin/ops budget (including monthly meetings with all centres)
  • Ensures office equipment is in working order
  • Identifies IT issues and coordinates with IT manager or local consultants to remedy
  • Liaises with building manager and responds to building/property issues and emergencies
  • Schedules cleaners, tracks keys, advises staff of any building/parking issues
  • Participates in bi-weekly operational meetings with all centre leaders
  • Oversees customer service, developing strong relationships with all stakeholders and fielding member questions, requests, recommendations and complaints

 

HUMAN RESOURCES RESPONSIBILITIES (Reports to COO)

  • Establishes a positive proactive relationship with staff and contractors and coordinates with Human Resources team to uphold HR policies and practices
  • Assists with establishment/maintenance of a professional continuous learning environment including upholding confidentiality and cultural agreements
  • Partners with various team members, Vancouver and regional, in providing new hire orientation and training
  • Coaches and supervises clinical and administrative staff and completes quarterly performance reviews, employee discipline, tracking and record keeping
  • Oversees front desk responsibilities
  • Coordinates Volunteer Program including facilitating recruitment, orientation, training and scheduling of volunteers
  • Facilitates morning meetings

 

MARKETING/FUNDRAISING RESPOSIBILITIES (Reports to COO)

  • Spokesperson for IH Kelowna
  • Implements marketing plan with support from the Operations/Clinical Teams (e.g. community presentations, media coverage, mail campaigns, brochure distribution)
  • Facilitates corporate fundraising, supports and builds existing and new relationships
  • Oversees ‘Paddle with InspireHealth’ and other third party events as they arise

 

HEALTH PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Reports to Director of Clinical Services)

  • Assesses patients and reviews their medical reports
  • Prepares individualized LIFE  Plans based on diagnosis, health concerns, activities of daily living, and recommendations from physicians or other health professionals
  • Designs personalized programs to maintain or enhance overall quality of life
  • Observes patients, write progress reports and consult with other health professionals as needed
  • Provides education to patients and their families regarding overall health promotion
  • Facilitates weekly classes and programs
  • Gives public talks and participates in community networking events to promote InspireHealth
  • Contributes written articles for the InspireHealth newsletter, blog, and external publications
  • Presents in the InspireHealth LIFE Program

 

LEAD HEALTH PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Reports to Director of Clinical Services)

  • Facilitates bi-weekly meetings with health professionals
  • Ensures Health Professional time sheets are accurate and reflect EMR/work activities
  • Encourages an interdisciplinary collaboration between health professionals
  • Oversees health professional discipline, tracking and record keeping
  • Coaches and supervises health professional staff
  • Provides EMR training
  • Schedules health professionals for program classes and LIFE Program segments
  • Produces class schedule and coordinates room and office assignment
  • Ensures programs run smoothly
  • Develops new programs and services
  • Meets with prospective members to discuss membership options/services
  • Ensures the establishment/maintenance of a healing environment for patient members and their supporters

Qualifications & Skills

 

You are noted for having a holistic person-centered philosophy and style, and you possess clinical skills that support client empowerment. You are personable, compassionate, non-judgmental, and able to support appropriate changes for each client. Your leadership, facilitation, and presentation skills will be called upon in this role. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with integrity, self-responsibility, and accountability. You are well organized, self-directed and able to prioritize. Although you are able to work independently, you also work effectively as part of a team.

 

  • At least two years of team management experience
  • At least two years of clinical experience within a healthcare setting
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Competent technical skills on Windows based systems 
  • Strong writing, speaking and presentation abilities

 

Other clinical requirements include:

 

  • Holistic Nutritionist designation
  • Good membership standing with your professional organization (e.g. IONC, CAHNPRO)

 

OR

 

  • Registered Dietician designation
  • Good membership standing with the College of Dieticians of British Columbia, or your provincial equivalent

 

OR

 

  • Kinesiologist designation
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an exercise-related field (e.g. kinesiology, human kinetics, exercise physiology, or exercise science)
  • Registration with an exercise related governing body within 6 months of employment (e.g. CSEP, ACSM, BCAK, or NCCP)

 

OR

 

  • Medical Doctor degree
  • Registered and fully licensed as a physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC at time of appointment
  • Currently enrolled with the Medical Services Plan
  • Membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

 

OR

 

  • Clinical Counsellor designation
  • Hold a Master’s degree in either Counselling Psychology or Social Work
  • Superior clinical skills, including significant understanding of emotional health as it relates to chronic illness, cancer and end of life care
  • Highly skilled as a group program facilitator at both the professional and lay level
  • Membership in a professional registering body, such as RPC, RCC, RSW or R.Psych

 

OR

 

  • Nurse Practitioner designation
  • Registration with College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia
  • Successful completion of the Objective Structural Clinical Examination (OSCE)

 

OR

 

  • Registered Nurse designation
  • Registration with College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia

 

The following skills would enhance your application, but are not a requirement:

 

  • Excellent Research skills
  • Competent with an electronic medical records system
    • Experience teaching yoga, meditation, EFT or expressive art therapy, laughter yoga, relaxation and visualization
    • Certified to practice acupuncture
    • Specific cancer care experience
      • End of life care experience
